I recently commented on a post over at Brian Clark’s Copyblogger blog, where I stated the incredible importance of doing research BEFORE you start to design, write, or implement any advertising.
I know that it becomes an awful temptation to get the thing out there, but hang on a minute and read a few words on the power of research techniques:
* The highest-paid scientists, copywriters, and ad persons know the power of putting their heart and sweat into different research techniques.
But, I mean, who cares? Doesn’t emotional sell products, not boring facts and stats?
Yes, emotion does sell more products than listing boring features or yawn-producing statistics.
So, what’s the big deal about research?
Well. research is the secret ingredient to making a killer ad or marketing piece that actually converts into hot leads and a bank account that adds up cash for you, not subtracts from it!
Start using Google Trends and some other research tools like Yahoo Buzz and Technorati.com. Type in your market, visitor profile, or type in what you think they would be searching for. Look for trends. Think a little harder. Figure out what makes these people tick.
Confused? It’s cool. I’ve put some awesome tactics together for you
