This is Part TWO of a 7 Part Series on Persuasive Marketing. This post is all about having a strong Call To Action at the end of your ads. It does not matter if you have the most persuasive headlines, mouth-watering body copy, killer testimonials, a product that dominates the market, NONE of it matters if you don’t tell your reader what to do after they get to the end of your ad.

Nothing.

All other arguments are brought to their knees when
it comes to the importance of sealing the deal…

Ads are like a puzzle-they have steps that must be followed. If you follow the steps out of order, chances are, you won’t solve the puzzle. Ads are the same way- get one thing out of order, and they fall like so much as a deck of cards.

The Call To Action is the end of your ad where you tell your dear reader to take an action of some sort- a 800 # to call, a post card to tear off and fill out, a website to visit-etc.

Bad Techniques You’ve Gotten Used To
But, most advertising does not include a Call To Action! Sure, your phone number and website are on the bottom- but all this really says is “If you feel like calling us, here’s how you do it”. It’s not convincing. It’s not credible. In short, it loses the sale for you.

So, how do you get around these problems? It’s simple. Take your product, your headline, your copy, your offer, and wind it up at the end with a strong, bold Call To Action.

Here are some examples

So, A good ad DOES NOT just have a phone number/e-mail/web address on the bottom. Those are essential elements but you have to direct the person toward where you want them to go. Hence, the Call To Action.

What Actions have you seen that are working?
