Is Clayton Makepeace The Warren Zevon Of Direct Response Marketing?
![]()
You remember the song Werewolves of London?
Ahhwoooo! Werewolves of London…”
It was one of Warren Zevon’s only hits. You might not know Warren but he was a glorious songwriter who kept the company of the Eagles, Jackson Browne, David Crosby, and a host of other West Coast hit tune-smiths.
Warren was edgy, unpredictable, wild as a coyote let loose after dark on the streets of L.A…
His song titles included such gems as
Poor, Poor Pitiful Me, Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner, Desperado’s Under the Eaves, Reconsider Me, Things To Do In Denver When Your Dead, Life Will Kill You, and Werewolves of London.
In short, Warren glorified the excesses of life and then wrote about the sorrows and pain that followed. He was real.

Clayton Makepeace, direct response copywriter, is much the same.
Cut from the same cloth as Warren, Clayton is brash, unapologetic, and can be downright harsh at times- just like Warren.
Clayton has honed his art of marketing down to a science and you can tell just by reading his new blog that the man is on a mission to educate you and me on what true higher profits really man- and how to get at them!
I’ll leave you to check out his stuff- you can get 4 marketing ebooks free just for joining his list ![]()
